LOS ANGELES , Jan 29 ( Reuters ) - The fifties were marked by a televised party , celebrity friends and a gala dinner , but the 60th anniversary of Oprah Winfrey will be calm , celebrated at home in California on Wednesday .
The billionaire media entrepreneur will receive guests for a " quiet dinner " in the seaside town of Montecito , 145km northwest of Los Angeles , said a source familiar with the plans on the host .
Oprah earlier said would " most raucous party that could dream ," but decided to reduce his plans after the guest list overgrow , the source said .
An accomplished woman, Oprah rose from poverty as the daughter of a black teenager in a rural area of the U.S. state of Mississippi to become one of the most powerful celebrities in the world , with an estimated $ 2.9 billion fortune, according to Forbes magazine .
She owns a cable TV channel , the Oprah Winfrey Network in partnership with Discovery Communications Inc. The popular daily Oprah company went off the air in 2011 , and the interviews they were a unique opportunity for celebrities search recompose their public images .
The party of 50 years of Oprah in 2004 during the " Oprah Winfrey Show" met actor John Travolta , comedian Jay Leno and musicians Tina Turner and Stevie Wonder , who surprised her in full the set.
